Otto, C.J., Townley, L.R., Bartle, G.R., and Watson, G.D. (1996), Dual pump recovery tests in one bore at the Baldivis Kwinana Nickel Refinery tailings pond, Report to WMC Kwinana Nickel Refinery, CSIRO Division of Water Resources Consultancy Report No. 96/33, 25pp., September. [Confidential]

The Stage 2 Dual Pump Recovery (DPR) tests have shown that simultaneous pumping with a lower recovery pump and an upper control pump can maintain pre-pumping EC levels and AMSUL loads at the pump outlets, thus achieving optimal recovery efficiency. A pumping ratio (control pump/recovery pump) of 0.64 produced stable EC levels of about 2800 ¦ÌScm-1 at the control pump outlet, and about 9000 ¦ÌScm-1 at the recovery pump outlet.

The theory, design and installation of a DPR system and operational guidelines are described in the report.
