The objective of this report is to provide a technical review of evidence provided to the Environment, Resources and Development Committee of the Parliament of South Australia during its Inquiry on Water Leakage at Roxby Downs, with particular reference to:

  • the design (including monitoring systems and reporting procedures), construction and use of the Tailings Retention System (TRS) at Olympic Dam;
  • the probable cause and possible effect of the leakage;
  • the efficacy of proposed remedial action and that which has so far been taken; and
  • other related matters.

    This report is based on a brief review of a large number of documents provided by the Committee. The documents reviewed are listed in Appendix A.
